Nancy Frost – ceramics

Who I am

I am a ceramic artist who enjoys both simply making pots and exploring expressive uses of the medium of clay.

What I do

I produce functional ware as well as work that is more expressive in nature. My sculptural work incorporates found objects with individually modelled ceramic bird and nest forms.

What inspires me

Patterns in nature, seed pods, bird's nests, layers of peeling paint, rust. Other people's pots. Old windows and doors with their layered history laid bare, their ragged curtains and crumbling locks hinting at lived experience I can only imagine, reminding me of my own history.

Why I do it

Because with clay one idea leads to another and there is never an end to the possibilities or the challenges.

My work this year

Wall and freestanding collages exploring memory, home and connection to the past using the interplay of constructed ceramic elements and found objects.

Nancy will be exhibiting as part of a joint show at Aardvark Books in Brampton Bryan, SY7 0DH
There is a cafe and a great range of books to explore, as well as country walks and the River Clun nearby
