Andrew Fusek Peters – photographer

Bank House, Bishop's Castle SY9 5BQ

Who I am: I am an author, photographer & nature writer

What I do: as a photographer working for conservation groups or for the press, I am passionate about the action of light through landscape at dawn, dusk and into the night sky as well as catching intimate moments with wildlife in the Shropshire hills and valleys

What inspires me: my local surroundings, the hills, nature reserves, valleys, rivers, woods and landscape should easily have the significance of more well known and celebrated areas. I am inspired to share the beauty of these still much undiscovered borderlands.

Why I do it: after many years as a successful YA and childrens author, I needed to move on as an artist and was delighted and humbled to discover photography. In the last year alone, my photos have been published in every UK national paper.

My supermoon rising over Caer Caradoc was on the front of the Times and sold to 4 other papers. My two years work for the National Trust and Natural England have resulted in a new book Upland {Graffeg} and the publication of the first ever guidebook for the Long Mynd. I am constantly working for the media and conservation groups and am open to new commissions. My book Wilderland, Wildlife & Wonder from the Shropshire Borders, was highly praised. 'Stunning' The Countryman, 'A delight' Outdoor Photographer, 'wonderful images' BBC Wildlife Magazine.

Why you should visit me: because I still believe in the old-fashioned dictum that art can move people and bring them back to a small sense of wonder about the world.
