John Brookes – painter

I make pieces of artwork, is a way of putting what I do. ‘Painter’ is the one-worder. Sometimes I think I have something worthwhile to show for the effort, even something to say sometimes.

I’m  seventy-something and I’ve done many other things in life, mostly nothing to do with art. I’ve worked as a management consultant, as a  flower seller,  as an odd job man, a tutor in mathematics, as an operations research consultant, a volunteer steward, volunteer driver, volunteer with National Trust at Croft Castle in the Bookshop -  and I write poetry , short stories, make pieces of art, fall in love, live a life …

I’ve exhibited in Guildford (1960’s), Winchester (1980’s), The Fold (near Worcester) 2014, Chang Thai (Ludlow) 2015, Hereford Courtyard (2015), The Pheasant (2016), Spotty dog (Tenbury Wells) 2016 - , Bank House Bishop’s Castle (2017).
